It is crazy to think that we are back home so soon from our stay in Pemba, Mozambique. There are no words to accurately describe all that our hearts felt, but if we were to choose one it would be WONDERFUL!!!! This trip redefined life as we knew it and has brought us deeper into the heart of God. During our three month stay we loved the poor, held the orphan, laughed with the widow all while learning to live without water and loving every moment of being fully immersed in the dirt. Jesus taught us how to see Him in each persons eyes, and how to love the way He loves. Poverty may be a state of living in Mozambique, but it is not a state of heart. The people have no material possessions to give, but they give all they have. You will never go hungry, be homeless or feel cold in Mozambique because their generosity surpasses wealth and defines love. We had the privilege to go to remote villages, share the Gospel and show the Jesus film. Many Mozambicans from other faiths came to Jesus and were powerfully healed of sicknesses, diseases and idolatry. In turn they gained forgiveness, health, joy, peace and most of all eternal life! We saw miracles signs and wonders, but it's just a byproduct of who God is, His perfect love and grace poured out. In teams we went to these villages to give, but in the end we gained. We learned from them how to love, how to share, how to live in community and how to be thankful. We are not defined by the place we live in, by the amount of money that is in our bank accounts or who we know, but by our decisions, actions and choices. Love is a choice. When God created the continent of Africa He did not frown upon it and curse it. Mozambique is the most beautiful place we have ever seen. Gods fingerprint is EVERYWHERE! From the breath taking beaches to the majestic mountains. It all speaks of His glory! It is so beautiful to have been part of Iris Ministries and see the change laid down lovers of Jesus are bringing to the nation.
At the end of the day as we sit in our air conditioned house with running water, we can't help but miss the sound of children playing, women singing Makua songs outside our window, bumpy camion rides and most of all rice and beans. We are so thankful for each and every person that supported us on this journey. We pray that you will one day have the privilege to be loved by the unloved of the world!
MISSIONS UPDATE!
Mirella: Europe has my heart! I have the honor to be traveling the continent with a team of laid down lovers to every country in Europe! We will go to poor villages, big cities and churches and share the love of Jesus with the world. Please pray for me as I embark on this new journey for the next few months, loving the people of Europe.
Clelia: Africa will always be the place I call home! Keep me in prayer as I prepare to move to Africa long term. In my lifetime I believe that there will be no more orphans and that the slave will be set free!
